He received the Masonic Light in 1904, in the Grand Orient. He was a member of the Humanity Lodge of PAPUS and TÉDER. It began in the High Grades (18th and 30th) in England; being exalted to the 90º degree of Memphis-Mizraim in 1909. In 1921, it is integrated into the Grand Lodge of France; where, in 1925, he will be awarded the 33rd Degree. He was also an active member of the Italian Philosophical Rite, of the Great Edoardo FROSINI Hierophant. In 1927, Jean BRICAUDexalted the 94th Degree of Memphis-Mizraim; and, in 1934, he is appointed Grand Hierophant Deputy and Substitute Grand Master Universal, Grade 97º. He entered the Martinist Order; and, in 1908, Superior Incognito Iniciador was consecrated (SII, IV) by TÉDER. In 1912, in Cairo, he received the Initiation of the Rose + Cross of the East by DÉON, Demetrios PLATÓN SÉMELAS (1883-1924), founder of the Order of Lily and Eagle (Ordre du Lys et de l'Aigle, OLA) . In 1934, Georges BOGÉ de LAGRÈZE, as Substituto Gran Hierofante, represented Guerino TROILO the Great International Convent of Brussels. Georges BOGÉ was also Knight Bienhecer of the Holy City (CBCS) of the Rectified Scottish Regime (RER). In 1937, the Grand Helvetic Priory (Grand Prieuré d'Helvétie) ordered him Great Professor; and, in 1941, Monsignor GENTY consecrated him Bishop of the Universal Gnostic Church (Église Gnostique Universelle, according to the Succession of Antioch) with the name of Tau Markos. Between 1941 and 1944, he frequented the Alexandrie d'Égypte Lodge, built in the private home of Robert AMBELAIN; to whom he will award his High Degrees. In 1944, he will assume the title of Great Hierophant; naming Robert AMBELAIN as Substitute. On April 27, 1946, he died in Ange.

We thought it interesting to reproduce here a brief biography of this great man, little known and who played an important role in the field of Tradition. He was born on January 28, 1895, who was a central but discreet character of the esoteric scene and left only a few months before the end of the century.Former student of the Royal Athenaeum of Charleroi, where he studied science, Armand Toussaint works all his professional life in the SNCB, the Societe Nationale des Chemins de Fer Belge, as main inspector, which allowed him to make numerous trips and have the necessary contacts necessary to his "career as a Hermetist", a race that we are going to summarize here.
ARMAND TOUSSAINT AND ROSACRUCIANISM
Armand Toussaint was President of the Belgian branch of the Rosicrucian Association of Max Heindel from 1933 to 1970. He then left this organization, in disagreement with the dogmatism of those responsible for Oceanside, who had described him as too official. In advance, he had always distrusted the American tendency to transform a spiritualist or initiatory school into a supermarket. In April of 1971, consequently, he created the Rosicrucian Fellowship, which he presented as a continuation of the teachings of the Max Heindel school. Until the end of his life, he had a relationship with an old R + C School, becoming the Friend, the Big Brother of many of its members.
ARMAND TOUSSAINT AND THE GNOSTIC CHURCH
Armand Toussaint plays an important role in the scorecard of the Gnostic Churches (in this regard, read the article by Tau Jacques on the Gnostic Churches that appeared in No. 3 of the E.D.C.). It is Roger Dechamps, who died on 12-23-64, who consecrates Armand Toussaint as Bishop on 1-6-63, under the mystical name of Tau Raymond. Roger Dechamps had been Bishop and Prior in Belgium of the Apostolic Gnostic Church. He himself was consecrated by Robert Ambelain (Jean III) on 5/31/59, with the mystical name of Tau Jean Rudiger. Later, André Mauer (Tau André) who succeeded Robert Ambelain as Patriarch of the Apostolic Gnostic Church, against constituting a Church that was too centralist and bureaucratic, considered the Gnostic Bishops as free Bishops.Precipitously, Armand Toussaint proposes at the Synod of the Apostolic Gnostic Church "to abolish all discrimination on account of sex in ordinations and, consequently, to admit women, with all the other necessary conditions fulfilled, to the greater degrees of Priesthood and until of Bishop "(Extract from a letter addressed to Roger Caro on April 8, 1972). Before the rejection of the Synod, Armand Toussaint founds, in 1969, the Apostolic Rosicrucian Church, open both to men and women, with an old companion on the way and one of those whom he considered as "spiritual children", Marcel Jirousek. The influence of the Apostolic Rosicrucian Church increased in the second part of the 80s, until today, with the action of three characters from the occult scene: Charles-Rafaël Payeur, Triantaphyllos Kotzamanis (Tau Hieronymus) and Tau Pôl Lysis. The first was consecrated by Armand Toussaint in 1985 and founded the Priestly College of the Rosa + Cruz before uniting it with the Apostolic Catholic Church of Brazil, not hostile to the esotericists. Later, Charles-Rafaël Payeur, continues to develop the teachings, through courses, cassettes, lectures and books, in which the occult is fused with a deep humanism. Triantaphyllos Kotzamanis, equally World Grand Master of Masonic obedience, the Universal Orient of Traditional Rites, Archbishop Prior in Greece of the Apostolic Rosicrucian Church (called in Greece, as in France, Gnostic and Apostolic Rosicrucian Church), strives for legal recognition of this church, against the hegemony of the Greek Orthodox Church, which considered it as an attack on its sovereignty. Tau Pôl Lysis, Archbishop Prior of France, Switzerland and Italy, on the other hand, has retained the discreet and esoteric character of the Church, which Armand Toussaint provided, reserving it to the Martinists, Rosicrucians and Freemasons.

Armand Toussaint was accepted into Martinism and consecrated as Superior Unknown Initiator (S ::: I ::: I :: :) on behalf of his Master Serge Marcotoune of Kiev, Master Hermius, who charged him to open a Lodge in Belgium. After the death of Serge Marcotoune, on January 15, 1971, Armand Toussaint founded the Martinist Order of the Knights of Christ, joint vehicle of the affiliation of Russian Martinism and of the Caballeresque affiliation. Jean Bricaud Tau Jean II
Jean Bricaud (1881-1934), also known as Tau Jean II, was a French student of the occult and esoteric matters. Bricaud was heavily involved in the French neo-Gnostic movement. He was consecrated a Gnostic bishop on July 21, 1913 by bishop Louis-Marie-François Giraud.He was the Patriarch of the Église Gnostique Universelle (French for "Universal Gnostic Church") and a central figure in the various lines of the apostolic succession of subsequent Gnostic churches, as well as a spiritual heir of Jules Doinel (Valentinus II). From 1916 he was head of the Ordre Martiniste. He was a friend of the occultists Papus and August Vandekerkhove.

Stanislas De Guaita (1861-1897) was a French poet, an expert on esotericism and European mysticism, and an active member of the Rosicrucian Order. He was very celebrated and successful in his time. He had many disputes with other people who were involved with occultism and magic. Occultism and magic were part of his novels.
The original OKR+C of Stanislas de Guaita did not confer any degrees but maintained a system of examinations of which each examination was granted with a diploma. The Order had three degrees ; bachelier (bachelor), licencié (master) and docteur en Kabale (doctor of Kabalah). Robert Ambelain ‘revalued’ the OKR+C diplomas into 4 Degrees, the so called ‘Rose-Croix’ degrees. The ‘Rose-Croix’ degrees Robert Ambelain used descended from different traditions:

The ‘Stricte Observance’ is the oldest ‘Esoteric-Masonic Rite’ we know.
Founded by German Karl Gotthelf baron von Hund (Carolus Eques ab Ense, 1722 -1766) around 1750. The first documents of Von Hund’s Masonic Templar rite dates from 1755. The French branch transformed into the CBCS, ‘Chevaliers Bienfaisants de la Cité Sainte’ , under the leadership of Jean-Baptiste Willermoz.
Jean-Baptiste Willermoz (1730-1824) was a French Freemason and Martinist who played an important role in the establishment of various systems of Masonic high-degrees in his time in both France and Germany.
The Doctrine is expounded in Martinez’ only book, The Treatise on the Reintegration of Beings.The secret grade of the Order contained the degree of Réau-Croix, not to be confused with Rose-Croix, a term that was also known in Masonic and Rosicrucian circles at the time. In this Degree of Réau-Croix, the Initiate was put in touch with the spiritual planes beyond the physical, through Magical Invocation or Theurgy. The Initiate drew upon the Celestial powers into his and the earth’s aura. Auditory and visual manifestations, called “signs”, enabled the Réau-croix to evaluate his own evolution and that of other “operators” and to thereby determine whether he or they have been re-integrated into their original powers. The grand object of the Order was to obtain the Beatific Vision of the Repairer, Jesus Christ, in response to Magical Evocations.Before his death, Martinez had appointed as his successor, his cousin Armand Cagnet de Lestère, General Secretary of the Navy in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. He had very little time to devote to the Order, and could just manage the Elus Cohen Temples of Port-au-Prince and Léogane in Haiti. Divisions occurred within the Temples in Europe and eventually, the Élus Cohen Temples became dormant.
This happened in Lyon in 1778. Willermoz integrated the philosophy of Martinez de Pasqually with the rite of von Hund into the R.E.R., Rite Ecossais Rectifié, the Rectified Scottish Rite. The ‘Rectifies Scottish Rite’ is a rite of 4 degrees ; Apprenti, Compagnon, Maître and Maître Ecossais de Saint-André. The R.E.R. is strongly influenced by Martinism and includes Pasqually’s ‘Elus Cohen’. The ‘Knights Beneficent of the Holy City’, C.B.C.S., has 4 degrees ; écuyer novice, CBCS (chevalier bienfaisant de la cité sainte), Profès and Grand Profès.

Heinrich Arnold Krumm-Heller (1876-1950) was a German doctor, occultist, Rosicrucian, and founder of Fraternitas Rosicruciana Antiqua (FRA), a traditional Hermetic order that operates in Brazil. A prolific writer, he published 25 esoteric books, novellas, history books, biographies, as well as countless articles in his magazine Rosa Cruz and similar publications. He joined several esoteric and fraternal orders, including Ordo Templi Orientis (OTO), and was a contemporary of Theodor Reuss (founder of the OTO) and of Spencer Lewis (Imperator of AMORC). He knew Aleister Crowley, etc..

Robert Ambelain ordained him yet again on November 11th 1959; as if this wasn’t enough, he was ordained into the Église Gnostique Universelle as well, by Miguel Sanchez-Marraga, José Marraga y Adhemar and Carlos Adhemar, on November 2nd 1963 — on the same day that Jose Ortier Sanchez y Marraga ordained him into the Neo-Pythagorean Gnostic Church. DR MICHAEL PAUL BERTIAUX
Bertiaux Paul Michael studied philosophy and history at the Jesuit University in Seattle, received instruction in philosophy at Tulane University in New Orleans, and learnt about theology at the Anglican Theological Centre in Vancouver. Bertiaux was christened and confirmed as a Roman Catholic, but was ordained into the priesthood of the protestant Episcopalian Church on June 24th 1963. On August 15th that year Hector-François Jean-Maine appointed him as a bishop at the ‘Arc-en-ciel’ Lodge, at Petionville in Haiti. At this time Bertiaux was working at Port-au-Prince as a philosophy teacher for the Church of England. In Seattle he became an Anglican Church Commissioner, even though he was maintaining contacts with Voodoo priests in Haiti. Not surprisingly, he departed the Anglican fold in 1964, and moved to Wheaton, Illinois, to work for the Theosophical Society. The TS’s president in America at this time was Dr. Henry Smith; both he and his wife Joanna were interested in magic and Spiritualism-Joanna was a medium. Haitian immigrants began to gather round Bertiaux, and he soon devoted most of his attention to them. Below are enumerated the various lines of succession that Bertiaux received: Basilides Line: 25.1.1966 from H. F. Bishop Louis-Marie-François Giraud (1876-1951) was Primate of the Eglise Catholique Gallicane (the Gallican Church) in succession to Bishop Jules-Ernest Houssaye. He was a Prelate-Commander of the Order of the Crown of Thorns. Giraud became a choir-brother at the Cistercian monastery of Fontgombault aged sixteen, and received the minor orders. In 1905, the monastery was dispersed and the following year Giraud, having heard of Prince-Abbot Joseph III, placed himself under his jurisdiction and was ordained conditionally up to the priesthood, that last order being conferred on 21 June 1907. He served the parish of the Holy Apostles in Paris from 1907-08 and his popularity led to his election as bishop in the latter year. He moved to the parish of Ardin, and by 1911, he was serving as vicar to the Abbé Julio (Houssaye) at the chapel of Aïre in Switzerland. Houssaye consecrated him but died the following year. Giraud then returned to France and established himself at La Mine-Saint Amant Roche-Savine (Livradois). In 1913 his work bore fruit when he dedicated a church there to the Holy Trinity. He served in the war of 1914-18 as a military chaplain and was twice mentioned in dispatches for rescuing wounded soldiers under fire. He was Primate of the Eglise Catholique Gallicane and Prelate Commander for France of the Order of the Crown of Thorns from 1912 until his retirement in 1950,.

Toca forsook the Communist régime in Cuba, spending a short time in Spain; at the time of writing he lives in Florida, where he expounds his teachings twice a week in Spanish on two private television stations (Canale 12 and Canale 13). Seventeen apostolic lines of succession have supposedly been inherited by Toca, who regularly appears in the Spanish-language press together with his wife. "The Most Rev. Dr. Sar Mar Roberto C. Toca" was consecrated by the Dutchman Herman Adrian Spruit (b. 1911) on August 15th 1982, since when he has called himself "Archbishop Primate of the Catholic Church of the Antiochean Rite." The EGC, MM, F.R.A. and O.T.O. are all subsumed within Toca's 'Conclave Universal Iniciatico (CUI)
Spain - Krumm Heller tradicion:
In 1933 Dionisio Rios Ballester "Aureolus" was initiated consecrated and after he received a warrant from Krumm-Heller; the latter passed his documentation on to Rios Ballester in 1939 on the last two stops of his 'grand tour' at Badalona near Barcelona and Valencia, before his permanent return to Germany. After Wolf's death in 1950 Rios Ballester was pushed on his position in Spain by Parsival Krumm-Heller; although holding onto the leadership was largely a matter of indifference to Rios Ballester himself. Parsival demanded the return of the Order's records, which his father had left behind in Spain. Rios remained largely inactive until 1979, only keeping links and exchanging documents with Chile (Rosario Carey and Oscar Bravo) and Colombia (Israel Rojas). Neither Metzger nor Parsival Krumm-Heller maintained any contact with Rios Ballester. On February 9th 1979 Rios Ballester established contact with his compatriot Manuel Cabrera Lamparter "Sar Baphomet Tau Priscilianus I., S.A.T.v.OZ::", who inaugurated the 'Aula Lucis Thelema' in Seville. On the 27th of that month M.C. Lamparter joined the Spanish F.R.A., receiving a warrant to found a lodge on March 27th. Around this time Rios Ballester became a member of W.W. Webb's 'QBLH' through Lamparter. Some six moths later, Rios Ballester died on June 26th 1980. On September 20th 1980 Lamparter confirmed the Ballester-F.R.A. charter of Narcis Pell Alimany, who had been a priest under Rios Ballester's leadership. But after various disagreements Lamparter took over sole command of the F.R.A. in Spain, which meant he had to apply to South America again for certain F.R.A. documents. After January 1st 1982 Lamparter was OHO of the Ordo Templi Orientis Antiqua (or OTOA - Franco-Haitian version of the OTO with an alleged succession descending from Encausse "Papus", Jean-Maine, Bertiaux, and Ward); besides this he had become 'Frater Senior' of William W. Webb's "Damon" Ordo Argenteum Astrum. On Christmas Day 1982 Lamparter was appointed as a bishop by Rosa and David Miller; on August 3rd 1986 he was ratified as "Hierofante Iniciador y Patriarca de la Iglesia Gnostica Latina (Ecclesia Gnostica Spiritualis) y O.H.O. de la Serenisima Gran Logia Española de la Ordo Templi Orientis - Tradicion Maestro Huiracocha" by Roberto Toca, in a charter that conferred Memphis-Misraim, Martinist and Illuminati dignities as well. He exchanged documents with Ramirez Cifuentes, though without taking the latter's dislike of Thelema seriously; this was one attribute that distinguished the FRC from the F.R.A., even though Ramirez Cifuentes also promoted the F.R.A. In 1987 Lamparter published a number of F.R.A. documents, like book, rituals, etc..

He was born on January 28, 1895, who was a central but discreet character of the esoteric scene and left only a few months before the end of the century.Former student of the Royal Athenaeum of Charleroi, where he studied science, Armand Toussaint works all his professional life in the SNCB, the Societe Nationale des Chemins de Fer Belge, as main inspector, which allowed him to make numerous trips and have the necessary contacts necessary to his "career as a Hermetist", a race that we are going to summarize here.
ARMAND TOUSSAINT AND ROSACRUCIANISM
Armand Toussaint was President of the Belgian branch of the Rosicrucian Association of Max Heindel from 1933 to 1970. He then left this organization, in disagreement with the dogmatism of those responsible for Oceanside, who had described him as too official. In advance, he had always distrusted the American tendency to transform a spiritualist or initiatory school into a supermarket. In April of 1971, consequently, he created the Rosicrucian Fellowship, which he presented as a continuation of the teachings of the Max Heindel school. Until the end of his life, he had a relationship with an old R + C School, becoming the Friend, the Big Brother of many of its members.
ARMAND TOUSSAINT AND THE GNOSTIC CHURCH
Armand Toussaint plays an important role in the scorecard of the Gnostic Churches (in this regard, read the article by Tau Jacques on the Gnostic Churches that appeared in No. 3 of the E.D.C.). It is Roger Dechamps, who died on 12-23-64, who consecrates Armand Toussaint as Bishop on 1-6-63, under the mystical name of Tau Raymond. Roger Dechamps had been Bishop and Prior in Belgium of the Apostolic Gnostic Church. He himself was consecrated by Robert Ambelain (Jean III) on 5/31/59, with the mystical name of Tau Jean Rudiger. Later, André Mauer (Tau André) who succeeded Robert Ambelain as Patriarch of the Apostolic Gnostic Church, against constituting a Church that was too centralist and bureaucratic, considered the Gnostic Bishops as free Bishops.Precipitously, Armand Toussaint proposes at the Synod of the Apostolic Gnostic Church "to abolish all discrimination on account of sex in ordinations and, consequently, to admit women, with all the other necessary conditions fulfilled, to the greater degrees of Priesthood and until of Bishop "(Extract from a letter addressed to Roger Caro on April 8, 1972). Before the rejection of the Synod, Armand Toussaint founds, in 1969, the Apostolic Rosicrucian Church, open both to men and women, with an old companion on the way and one of those whom he considered as "spiritual children", Marcel Jirousek. The influence of the Apostolic Rosicrucian Church increased in the second part of the 80s, until today, with the action of three characters from the occult scene: Charles-Rafaël Payeur, Triantaphyllos Kotzamanis (Tau Hieronymus) and Tau Pôl Lysis. The first was consecrated by Armand Toussaint in 1985 and founded the Priestly College of the Rosa + Cruz before uniting it with the Apostolic Catholic Church of Brazil, not hostile to the esotericists. Later, Charles-Rafaël Payeur, continues to develop the teachings, through courses, cassettes, lectures and books, in which the occult is fused with a deep humanism. Triantaphyllos Kotzamanis, equally World Grand Master of Masonic obedience, the Universal Orient of Traditional Rites, Archbishop Prior in Greece of the Apostolic Rosicrucian Church (called in Greece, as in France, Gnostic and Apostolic Rosicrucian Church), strives for legal recognition of this church, against the hegemony of the Greek Orthodox Church, which considered it as an attack on its sovereignty. Tau Pôl Lysis, Archbishop Prior of France, Switzerland and Italy, on the other hand, has retained the discreet and esoteric character of the Church, which Armand Toussaint provided, reserving it to the Martinists, Rosicrucians and Freemasons.

Armand Toussaint was accepted into Martinism and consecrated as Superior Unknown Initiator (S ::: I ::: I :: :) on behalf of his Master Serge Marcotoune of Kiev, Master Hermius, who charged him to open a Lodge in Belgium. After the death of Serge Marcotoune, on January 15, 1971, Armand Toussaint founded the Martinist Order of the Knights of Christ, joint vehicle of the affiliation of Russian Martinism and of the Caballeresque affiliation. Jean Bricaud (1881-1934), also known as Tau Jean II, was a French student of the occult and esoteric matters. Bricaud was heavily involved in the French neo-Gnostic movement. He was consecrated a Gnostic bishop on July 21, 1913 by bishop Louis-Marie-François Giraud.He was the Patriarch of the Église Gnostique Universelle (French for "Universal Gnostic Church") and a central figure in the various lines of the apostolic succession of subsequent Gnostic churches, as well as a spiritual heir of Jules Doinel (Valentinus II). From 1916 he was head of the Ordre Martiniste. He was a friend of the occultists Papus and August Vandekerkhove.

Stanislas De Guaita (1861-1897) was a French poet, an expert on esotericism and European mysticism, and an active member of the Rosicrucian Order. He was very celebrated and successful in his time. He had many disputes with other people who were involved with occultism and magic. Occultism and magic were part of his novels.
The original OKR+C of Stanislas de Guaita did not confer any degrees but maintained a system of examinations of which each examination was granted with a diploma. The Order had three degrees ; bachelier (bachelor), licencié (master) and docteur en Kabale (doctor of Kabalah). Robert Ambelain ‘revalued’ the OKR+C diplomas into 4 Degrees, the so called ‘Rose-Croix’ degrees. The ‘Rose-Croix’ degrees Robert Ambelain used descended from different traditions:

Demetrius Platon Semelas was a Greek Martinist who became a member of the Egyptian Martinist Lodge in Cairo under the leadership of Eugene Dupre in 1911, and re-established the Order of the Rose-Croix d'Orient - Robert Ambelain builds the foundation of this Order to Alexios Komnenos, some other researchers - to Michael Psell, and Semelas argued that the Rose-Croix d'Orient was founded by the Patriarch of Constantinople Photius. From this we can conclude that this secret society during the Byzantine Empire in Constantinople included in its members representatives of both secular and spiritual power, as well as Byzantine mystics and demonologists. When the First World War began, many Martinists returned to France. Dupre was mobilized, and Semelas settled in Paris and became a close friend of Papus.

The ‘Stricte Observance’ is the oldest ‘Esoteric-Masonic Rite’ we know.
Founded by German Karl Gotthelf baron von Hund (Carolus Eques ab Ense, 1722 -1766) around 1750. The first documents of Von Hund’s Masonic Templar rite dates from 1755. The French branch transformed into the CBCS, ‘Chevaliers Bienfaisants de la Cité Sainte’ , under the leadership of Jean-Baptiste Willermoz.
Jean-Baptiste Willermoz (1730-1824) was a French Freemason and Martinist who played an important role in the establishment of various systems of Masonic high-degrees in his time in both France and Germany.
Martinez de Pasqually (1727 -1774) was a mysterious character. Martinez’ full name was Jacques de Livron Joachim de la Tour de la Casa Martinez de Pasqually. He was probably born in France circa 1727 in or near Grenoble, but French was not his mother tongue. He died in 1774 in Saint-Domingue. Many of his contemporaries judged him hastily, but not the “Unknown Philosopher”, who saw him as a master, in fact, as his first master.The Martinist doctrine, was transmitted by Martinez de Pasqually to the “Ordre des Chevelier Maçons Élus Cohen de L’Univers” (“Order of Knight Masons, Elect Priests of the Universe”) which will be referred to as Élus Coens hereafter), of which he presented himself as the “grand sovereign” or one of the seven grand sovereigns, and to which he consecrated his life while refuting being its founder. In no later than 1760, Martinez de Pasqually started recruiting in masonic lodges of the south of France. But before Martinez, there is no trace of that order, even in a non-masonic form.Externally, the Order of the Élus Coens took the appearance of a Masonic society, since the Masons were one of the few societies tolerated by the Roman Catholic Church. Martinez selected his first disciples in Masonic lodges, and his order initially presented itself as a Masonic “higher degree” system.In 1754, he had founded in Montpellier, France, the Masonic Chapter “Les Juges Ecossais”/“The Scottish Judges”. Between 1755 and 1760, Martinez travelled extensively through France, recruiting followers for his own system. By 1770, The Rite of Élus Cohen has Temples in numerous cities, such as Bordeaux, Montpellier, Avignon, Foix, La Rochelle, Versailles, Paris and Metz.In May of 1772, Martinez sails for San Domingo after having applied for a certificate of Catholicism. How he, a Mason and Grand Master of his own High Grade Rite, obtained such a certificate is not explained. He undertook this journey in order to take up a legacy. On Tuesday, September 20, 1774, Martinez dies in Port-au-Prince, Haiti.The Order of Élus Cohen seems to have had nine, ten or eleven degrees. A certain amount of development probably occurred in the course of the Order’s existence, with certain additions authorized by Martinez as his members progressed. The Order was divided into three main classes, followed by a secret grade:The first class contained the normal 3 Degrees of Symbolic Masonry plus an additional degree of Grand Elect or Particular Master.The second class contained the so-called Porch Degrees of Apprentice-Cohen, Fellow-Cohen and Master-Cohen. It was typically Masonic, but contained hints of an underlying secret doctrine.The third class contained the Temple Degrees of Grand Master Élus Cohen, Knight of the East and Commander of the East. Under the appearance of Masonry, its Catechisms were based upon Martinez’ General Doctrine.
This happened in Lyon in 1778. Willermoz integrated the philosophy of Martinez de Pasqually with the rite of von Hund into the R.E.R., Rite Ecossais Rectifié, the Rectified Scottish Rite. The ‘Rectifies Scottish Rite’ is a rite of 4 degrees ; Apprenti, Compagnon, Maître and Maître Ecossais de Saint-André. The R.E.R. is strongly influenced by Martinism and includes Pasqually’s ‘Elus Cohen’. The ‘Knights Beneficent of the Holy City’, C.B.C.S., has 4 degrees ; écuyer novice, CBCS (chevalier bienfaisant de la cité sainte), Profès and Grand Profès.

When Robert Ambelain founded the Martinist Order of initiation; one Martinist established order within the ‘Ancien et Primitif Rite of Memphis-Misraim’. IMO L’Ordre Martiniste initiatique is based on a Russian Novikovaffiliation. Nikolái Novikov – 1744 – 1818.
Nikolai Ivanovich Novikov was a Russian Martinist and a Freemason, to whom Robert Ambelain built his line of succession in martinism through Russes blancs who fled to France after the revolution of 1917, which destroyed the Russian Empire and brought the Bolsheviks to power, including through Sergei Markotun and Yuri Constantinovich Terapiano. Nikolai Novikov was an active public figure, participated in the translation and publication of the mystical writings of contemporary authors, in particular, he was involved in the publication of the works of Louis Claude de Saint-Martin "On Errors and Truth" in Russian. Nikolai Novikov was actively interested in alchemy, he was also in the German alchemical Der Orden der Gold- und Rosenkreuzer, and, according to some data, he received an initiation in Rite écossais rectifié of Willermoz, but was not impressed with it and was not actively engaged in the development of this Freemasonry Rite in Russia.
Martinist Order’ s initiatic path and teachings, which was founded in 17th century by Martinez de Pasqually and propagated by louis claude de saint martin in 18th century, and reawaken in 19th century by Doctor Gerard Encausse and Robert Ambelain. Allen H. Greenfield (born 1946), was given the mystical title and charter as Tau Sir Hasirim, in 1986 and 1991 by Hierophant Michael Bertiaux of Chicago IL. Greenfield is an American-born occultist and author long involved in the free illuminist movement.

Heinrich Arnold Krumm-Heller (1876-1950) was a German doctor, occultist, Rosicrucian, and founder of Fraternitas Rosicruciana Antiqua (FRA), a traditional Hermetic order that operates in Brazil. A prolific writer, he published 25 esoteric books, novellas, history books, biographies, as well as countless articles in his magazine Rosa Cruz and similar publications. He joined several esoteric and fraternal orders, including Ordo Templi Orientis (OTO), and was a contemporary of Theodor Reuss (founder of the OTO) and of Spencer Lewis (Imperator of AMORC). He knew Aleister Crowley, etc..

Robert Ambelain ordained him yet again on November 11th 1959; as if this wasn’t enough, he was ordained into the Église Gnostique Universelle as well, by Miguel Sanchez-Marraga, José Marraga y Adhemar and Carlos Adhemar, on November 2nd 1963 — on the same day that Jose Ortier Sanchez y Marraga ordained him into the Neo-Pythagorean Gnostic Church. Hector-François Jean-Maine received ordinations from Michael Paul Bertiaux on November 2nd 1968, and from Marc-Antoine Lully.

It is stated that he also ‘exchanged’ several of his filiations with Papus. His E*C* filiation allegedly went back to De Pasqually, it is said that several members of the Maine family were affiliated to Pasqually’s EC. The EC on Haiti was known as the » Temples Cohens de Port-au-Prince et de Lèogane », and functioned up until 1780. According to the story, when De Pasqually arrived at Haiti, there already existed Templar- and Masonic lodges on the island. After De Pasqually’s death, several EC members, together with other masons, templars, and members of « secret Afriican societies », created a syncretism called« Les Templiers Noirs », the Black Templars, these members were Creole-French. In 1922 Maine founded the voudoun -Masonic order of « La Couleuvre Noire » (Cult of the Black Snake). The whole Haitian movement culminated in a kind of federation of orders (O.T.O.A. etc.) to which several Martinist orders (Maine-lineage) were affiliated:

Fisher and Webb had previously founded the clumsily named ‘QBL Alchemist Church'; Webb then passed responsibility for the PGHS over to Shreves. »The Qabalistic Alchemist Church of April 1, 1960 was founded by over 20 people. High Masons and Ethiopian Alchemest Church — 10000 of years old, and Eastern Orthodox Catholic. (Arch Bishop Theodotus of New York and Society of Rosicrucians in America…) » 1964 November: Dispensation granted by the High Council of the Societas Rosicruciana in Anglia to open a Ruby Rose Study Center. Following George Plummer’s death, Webb was asked to head this Order, but declined. On 24 November 1973 he received the Honorary Seventh Degree O.T.O. signed by Kenneth Grant of the Typhonian Ordo Templi Orientis. In 1981 he started to co-operate with the O.T.O.A Webb, as a bishop, stayed loyal to the officially incorporated ‘Qabalistic Alchemist Church’ and his own ‘Ordo Argenteum Astrum’ (its English version published the « Equinox Magazine »). Until he died on October 15, 1997 he was an astrologer and artist.

ARMAND TOUSSAINT AND ROGER FAR+CThe reunion between Armand Toussaint and Roger Caro should be the origin of the birth of the E.U.N.A., Universal Church of the New Covenant. Since Roger Caro received the first letter from Armand Toussaint, there was a sign in Heaven. In fact, after 1969, the Order of the Frères Ainés de la Rose + Croix had no other Grand Prior General (according to the email sent by Roger Caro to Armand Toussaint) than the proposed Armand Toussaint that he had to accept without being suspicious. Roger Caro put him in contact, in accordance with the tradition of the Order, with a Master guide who will assist him until his Adepted, received in 1972, Adepted which corresponded entirely with being a Frère Ainé de la Rose + Croix. He was later named honorary Imperator of the F + A + R + C. Armand Toussaint consecrates Roger Caro as Bishop on Saturday, June 10, 1972, at the residence of the Angelots, in Saint-Cyr-sur-Mer, headquarters of the F. · .A · · R + C. After dedicating himself to developing the Apostolic Rosicrucian Church in France and abroad (at this time, the ERA had been almost non-existent outside of Belgium) Roger Caro proposes to Armand Toussaint to found the Church of the New Covenant in communion with the ERA, the first for the alchemists and the second for the Rosicrucians. To found his Church, Roger Caro relies on the documents of the former Templar Church, canons and rituals, found in the archives of the Order of F. · .A · · R + C. This project was essential for him, and he would be grateful for the life of Armand Toussaint to have allowed him to perform (According to letter of 31-9-1971, directed by Roger Caro to Armand Toussaint and his wife). Later, Roger Caro closed the Order of the F. · .A. ·. R + C, inviting its members to retire within the bosom of the Church of the New Covenant.

Louis-Marie-François Giraud (Mgr. François)
Bishop Louis-Marie-François Giraud (1876-1951) was Primate of the Eglise Catholique Gallicane (the Gallican Church) in succession to Bishop Jules-Ernest Houssaye. He was a Prelate-Commander of the Order of the Crown of Thorns. Giraud became a choir-brother at the Cistercian monastery of Fontgombault aged sixteen, and received the minor orders. In 1905, the monastery was dispersed and the following year Giraud, having heard of Prince-Abbot Joseph III, placed himself under his jurisdiction and was ordained conditionally up to the priesthood, that last order being conferred on 21 June 1907. He served the parish of the Holy Apostles in Paris from 1907-08 and his popularity led to his election as bishop in the latter year. He moved to the parish of Ardin, and by 1911, he was serving as vicar to the Abbé Julio (Houssaye) at the chapel of Aïre in Switzerland. Houssaye consecrated him but died the following year. Giraud then returned to France and established himself at La Mine-Saint Amant Roche-Savine (Livradois). In 1913 his work bore fruit when he dedicated a church there to the Holy Trinity. He served in the war of 1914-18 as a military chaplain and was twice mentioned in dispatches for rescuing wounded soldiers under fire. He was Primate of the Eglise Catholique Gallicane and Prelate Commander for France of the Order of the Crown of Thorns from 1912 until his retirement in 1950,.

Before his death, Krumm-Heller allegedly also named Johannes Müller Rider "Sar Thelemako" a successor, who had spent much of his time seeking a cure at sundry Alpine resorts. (The documents proving the successorship it is in the hands of his son Juan Müller in Cuba.) But it seems that in Cuba 'Thelemako' accumulated enough magical power to cure himself of cancer with a herb called 'Anamu', and there established branches of the F.R.A., the GCC, and the Krumm-Heller rescension of the O.T.O.; as a consequence, he considered himself entitled to the dignities of 33°, 90°, 97°, X° and that of OHO. Rider was supposed to be an acquaintance of the German Liberal Catholic Gustav Ringer, who came originally from Prague, and had been consecrated into the Mariavite and Jacobite Orders as a priest by the Swede Reinhold Palminge, while he was in Berlin. In 1960 Manuel del Pino Hernandez was running a lodge in Havana. In 1966 Rider appointed, initiated consecrated the Roberto C. Toca (b. 11.1.43 in Cuba) to this position, and made him a GCC bishop and OHO of the Krumm-Heller O.T.O. in 1976; the photographs of this consecration show an O.T.O.-type altar. Toca was regularly described in newspaper accounts as OHO of the O.T.O., 90°, 97°, and mentioned in connection with the Law of Thelema. This particular O.T.O. consisted of 12 "grados iniciaticos (3 previos de neofitos) y los 5 posteriores de Illuminatis" (12 "initiatory degrees (preceded by 3 neophyte degrees) followed by 5 Illuminati degrees.") A newspaper article of 1986 talks of the 90°, 97°, 12 Rosicrucian degrees, 17 Illuminati degrees, together with nine degrees deriving from Krumm-Heller, and Martinist degrees from the 'Papus' tradition.
Spain - Krumm Heller tradicion:
In 1933 Dionisio Rios Ballester "Aureolus" was initiated consecrated and after he received a warrant from Krumm-Heller; the latter passed his documentation on to Rios Ballester in 1939 on the last two stops of his 'grand tour' at Badalona near Barcelona and Valencia, before his permanent return to Germany. After Wolf's death in 1950 Rios Ballester was pushed on his position in Spain by Parsival Krumm-Heller; although holding onto the leadership was largely a matter of indifference to Rios Ballester himself. Parsival demanded the return of the Order's records, which his father had left behind in Spain. Rios remained largely inactive until 1979, only keeping links and exchanging documents with Chile (Rosario Carey and Oscar Bravo) and Colombia (Israel Rojas). Neither Metzger nor Parsival Krumm-Heller maintained any contact with Rios Ballester. On February 9th 1979 Rios Ballester established contact with his compatriot Manuel Cabrera Lamparter "Sar Baphomet Tau Priscilianus I., S.A.T.v.OZ::", who inaugurated the 'Aula Lucis Thelema' in Seville. On the 27th of that month M.C. Lamparter joined the Spanish F.R.A., receiving a warrant to found a lodge on March 27th. Around this time Rios Ballester became a member of W.W. Webb's 'QBLH' through Lamparter. Some six moths later, Rios Ballester died on June 26th 1980. On September 20th 1980 Lamparter confirmed the Ballester-F.R.A. charter of Narcis Pell Alimany, who had been a priest under Rios Ballester's leadership. But after various disagreements Lamparter took over sole command of the F.R.A. in Spain, which meant he had to apply to South America again for certain F.R.A. documents. After January 1st 1982 Lamparter was OHO of the Ordo Templi Orientis Antiqua (or OTOA - Franco-Haitian version of the OTO with an alleged succession descending from Encausse "Papus", Jean-Maine, Bertiaux, and Ward); besides this he had become 'Frater Senior' of William W. Webb's "Damon" Ordo Argenteum Astrum. On Christmas Day 1982 Lamparter was appointed as a bishop by Rosa and David Miller; on August 3rd 1986 he was ratified as "Hierofante Iniciador y Patriarca de la Iglesia Gnostica Latina (Ecclesia Gnostica Spiritualis) y O.H.O. de la Serenisima Gran Logia Española de la Ordo Templi Orientis - Tradicion Maestro Huiracocha" by Roberto Toca, in a charter that conferred Memphis-Misraim, Martinist and Illuminati dignities as well. He exchanged documents with Ramirez Cifuentes, though without taking the latter's dislike of Thelema seriously; this was one attribute that distinguished the FRC from the F.R.A., even though Ramirez Cifuentes also promoted the F.R.A. In 1987 Lamparter published a number of F.R.A. documents, like book, rituals, etc..
